"We are thrilled to be back playing in front of our home crowd," Thundering Herd head coach Kevin Long said. SENIOR DAY
Marshall will be honoring seven seniors on Sunday as part of the pregame festivities, Karen Rogge, Alyssa Totzke, Chloe Smith, Gabby Powers, Farah Abu-Tayeh, Marah Abu-Tayeh and Rebekah Cook.

"The resiliency this class has shown is simply amazing," Long said about the 2019 senior class. "Their attitude and perseverance has been contagious and each have been an absolute thrill to be able to coach. I am certain that each senior will be creating a path moving forward that will continue to represent Marshall and our Women's Soccer program in the same pride inducing fashion we have come accustomed to while they have been here."

LAST TIME OUT
Last weekend the Herd dropped a pair of contests at the Music City Invitational, falling 2-0 to Lipscomb and a close 3-2 double overtime loss to the host ninth-ranked Vanderbilt.

Mary Lawman put MU on top with a ninth-minute header of a corner delivered by Rene Ross. Vanderbilt struck with the next two goals in the 18th and 26th minutes, respectively, as it carried a 2-1 lead into halftime. In the second half, Powers made a sliding save off a rebound to keep the deficit at one and it proved to be a big play as F. Abu-Tayeh took a through ball from Cara Norlin. Abu-Tayeh beat the Commodore defense and slide the ball past the keeper to tie the match with just over 12 minutes remaining in regulation. The game wasn't decided in regulation or the first overtime as the two squads headed to a second extra frame. With just under two minutes left in the second overtime period, VU scored the game-winning goal on a cross. Lindsay Langley made a career-high 11 saves. Langley, Lawman and Rene Ross were named to the all-tournament team.

SCOUTING HIGH POINT
The Panthers are 1-5-0 this season. HPU has scored three goals in its six matches and has been shutout four times, with three of those shutouts coming by 1-0 score. Like the Herd, High Point has taken on one ranked team, No. 11 WVU, falling to the Mountaineers 3-0 on Aug. 30 in Morgantown.

Ashlyn Kearney, Kyle Levesque and Chloe Le franc have each tallied a goal for the Panthers. Talia Kimes has started in goal in all six of HPU's matches.
