MOREHEAD, Ky. – The Marshall volleyball team travels for one last early season tournament to the Comfort Inn-vitational, before finally getting to play a home match. The tournament, hosted by the Morehead State Eagles, is scheduled for Sept. 19-20.
The Thundering Herd is 7-3 entering the tournament.
Live stats will be available for all matches. The only contest for the Herd that will have video coverage is the Thursday meeting with Morehead State at 6 p.m., on ESPN+.

Marshall is coming off a sweep at Eastern Kentucky, the team's sixth sweep of the season, Tuesday night. It was a hard fought sweep as the match featured a total of 39 ties and 21 lead changes. Sophomore Sarah Schank led the way with 12 kills and redshirt junior Ciara Debell tallied 10. Schank ended both the first and third sets with kills to put away the Colonels.
Debell leads the Herd with 147 kills, averaging 4.20 per set. Schank is closing in on 100 for the season (92) and is averaging 2.63 per set. Junior Destiny Leon and sophomore Mion Weldon are tied with 52 kills each. Sophomore setter Gabrielle Coulter leads with 184 assists while junior setter Sydney Lostumo has 166. Lostumo leads Marshall with 12 service aces and Schank is right behind with 10.
On defense, Marshall continues to come through with the rejections. The Herd is averaging 2.80 blocks per set this season and sophomore Isa Dostal along with Leon have been blocking machines. Dostal is tops with 47 total blocks and Leon has 44. Debell has chipped in 30 total blocks and Weldon has 20. Senior libero Amber Weber is the leader on the floor and also leads with 132 digs. She recorded her 1,000th career dig in the match against the Saint Louis Billikens and is now over 900 in her three seasons at Marshall.
Opponents
Morehead State enters the event with a 6-3 record and the Eagles are coming off a tough weekend at the Kansas Invitational. Morehead State was swept by Kansas and Arizona, but pulled off a five-set victory over Syracuse. The Eagles swept a previous home tournament, Sept. 6-7, with wins over Presbyterian, Georgia State and Providence. Olivia Lohmeier leads the team with 147 kills, averaging 4.45 per set. Lauren Roky is second with 94. Bridget Bessler and Chandler Clark have split time as the setter with Bessler leading with 214 assists and Clark has 151. On defense, Morehead State is averaging 1.52 blocks per set and Mia Swearingen leads with 33 total blocks. Allison Whitten leads the team in digs with 135.
The Coppin State Eagles enter the week with a 3-7 record. The Eagles last took the court on Tuesday and fell in four sets to Loyola Maryland. The team's last win was a sweep over Fairleigh Dickinson on Sept. 14. Miajavon Coleman is the leader on offense with 138 kills, averaging 3.94 per set. Sydney Hicks is second with 50. Coppin State has also been rotating two setters with Brianna Lang (193 assists) and Salma Gonzalez (100 assists). On defense the team is averaging 1.33 blocks per set with Lauryn Harrell leading the way with 24 total blocks. Ashley Roman is the leader in digs with 139.
The Southeastern Louisiana Lions are also 3-7 entering Wednesday and have a match against Mississippi Valley State before heading to Morehead. The Lions defeated Jackson State in four in its previous match. The Lions have a spread out offense with seven players all with 23 or more kills. Jodi Edo leads with 100 and Sam Gomez is next with 92. Baylee Laskoskie leads in assists with 208 while Ariana Hebert has 141. On defense, Southeastern Louisiana is averaging 1.51 blocks per set and Edo leads with 30 total blocks. The Lions have two players with over 100 digs in Alexis Pratt with 118 and Caroline Golden with 107.
Following the trip to Morehead, Ky., Marshall will finally have a home match. After what will be 13 road contests, the Herd will face Southern Miss on Friday, Sept. 27 at 6 p.m., in the Cam Henderson Center.
