A LOOK AT THE BOBCATS
The Thundering Herd has won six straight in the head-to-head series, including going 3-0 last year against the Bobcats. Marshall has won four straight in Athens.
Ohio is 3-11 and has lost 10 straight games to begin 2020. This past weekend, Ohio fell in the three games it played by a combined six runs in Johnson City, Tennessee, losing to Marist, Wagner and East Tennessee State.
Tuesday's game is the home opener for the Bobcats, who are led offensively by catcher Devonte Washington and utility man Isaiah Peterson. Only three players have double-digit hits in the young season for the Bobcats.
Tuesday is the first of three games which Marshall will face Ohio in this season, and it is the second consecutive MAC school which the Thundering Herd will meet. Marshall is 4-2 against teams from the conference thus far (Bowling Green 1-1; Akron 3-1).
QUICK TURN AROUND
The game is the second midweek matchup for Marshall. The Herd lost 10-5 last Wednesday in Blacksburg, Virginia at ACC opponent Virginia Tech. Sophomore Ryan Capuano, a primarily midweek starter, suffered the loss in that one, but earned his last career win against Ohio in 2019.
Marshall went 3-1 this past weekend at home against Akron, capping the series with an 18-3 win in the second game of Sunday's doubleheader.
Senior Zach Inskeep enters Tuesday with the team lead in batting average at .316. And following a strong weekend in which he went 7-for-15 at the plate, redshirt junior Peter Hutzal is not far behind, hitting .315 entering the midweek game.

- Redshirt senior Wade Martin earned Conference USA Co-Pitcher of the Week honors for the first time in his career thanks to his dominant win on Saturday against Akron. He pitched 6.2 innings, allowing just one run on three hits, striking out a career-high 11 batters.
- Redshirt junior Robert Kwiatkowski has been impressive in relief, and holds several team-best streaks currently. Over his past three appearances, in which he has thrown 7.0 innings, he has not allowed any hits or runs, and has struck out 10 batters without issuing any walks.
- In Sunday's offensive barrage over Akron, several batters hit their first home run of the season: Luke Edwards, Peter Hutzal and Ryan Leitch. For Leitch, it was his first collegiate homer, and Hutzal's was his first since before his injury which forced him out of action all of 2019.
- Junior Geordon Blanton hit a grand slam in the second game of Sunday's doubleheader, which was the first by a Marshall batter since Tyler Ratliff at WKU on May 14, 2016. Blanton is tied with Jaren Lovely for the team lead in HR.
- Marshall's 18 runs were the team's most since scoring 25 against Eastern Michigan on March 10, 2019.
