Marshall Baseball Begins Intrasquad World Series

Team Green defeated Team Black in the first two contests
HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – The Marshall Thundering Herd baseball team began its Intrasquad World Series this past weekend as Team Green defeated Team Black in the opening two games, 8-3 and 11-3.

Team Green was highlighted by performances from Luke Edwards, who went 5-for-9 with a pair of doubles, Ryan Leitch with a pair of two-baggers going 4-for-8 at the plate and Avery Lee by recording three hits in seven at-bats, including a triple.

In game one, Carter Lyles and Will Dando paced Team Green on the mound as Lyles threw three scoreless frames and Dando added a pair of scoreless innings.

While in game two, Chad Heiner and Ayden Hodges each pitched two scoreless innings for Team Green.

Zach Gardiner had three extra-base hits in seven at-bats for Team Black as he doubled, smoked a triple and blasted a homer during the opening contests
Â
Games three and four are tentatively scheduled for Friday and Sunday at Kennedy Center YMCA on Route 2 with times to be determined due to weather.
