ROCK HILL, S.C. – Marshall track and field athletes won four events and broke two school records Saturday to conclude the Adidas Winthrop Invitational at the Irwin Belk Track & Field Facility.
Mikah Alleyne in her second career outdoor meet broke the 400 meter dash school record in impressive fashion. She won the event with a new school record time of 54.84, which breaks Brandy Elysee's 2019 time of 55.40.
Alleyne's time is the first sub-55 second 400m dash in Marshall school history. Additionally, she won Saturday's event by nearly three seconds over second place.
Macie Majoy set a new personal record in the outdoor pole vault and broke her own school record. Her first place clearance of 3.89 meters (12 feet, 9 inches) tops her previous top mark of 3.82m (12 ft., 6.25 in.).
Ashonti Warner took first place in the 400 meter hurdles with a time of 1:00.92, which was nearly six seconds faster than her closest competitor.
The 4x400 meter relay squad of Safiyyah Mitchell, Mikah Alleyne, Janea Gardner and Danere'a White finished first by roughly nine seconds with a time of 3:48.63.
Of over 30 throwers in the discus, Brooke Burns (43.41m/142 ft. 5 in.) finished third and Rebecca Merritt (43.23m/141 ft. 10 in.) finished fourth.
Merritt later finished second in the shot put with a top throw of 12.74m (41 ft. 9.75 in.).
