Alleyne and Majoy Break Records Again In Strong Team Showing At South Carolina

Duo break school records for second time in as many weeks

COLUMBIA, S.C. – Marshall track and field had a strong showing Saturday at the Gamecock Invitational hosted by the University of South Carolina.
Two school records were broken during the day, by Macie Majoy in the pole vault and Mikah Alleyne in the 400 meter dash. The duo each broke the school record in their respective events at the Adidas Winthrop Invitational two weekends ago, the program's most recent meet prior to today.
"We had a really great day today in all event areas," head coach Jeff Small said. "Stand out performances include school records in the pole vault by Macie Majoy and in the 400 by Mikah Alleyne. MaryAnn Adebayo had a huge personal record in the hammer throw as did Brooke Burns in the discus. Our hurdlers Safiyyah Mitchell and Taylor Robinson and Ashonti Warner each had outstanding days as did middle distance star Abby Herring. To top it off, Tori Dotson and Astoria Beckett swept the top two places in the 800."
Alleyne's school record time of 54.83 just edged her personal and school record of 54.84.
Meanwhile, Majoy also edged her top clearance in the outdoor event with a top clearance of 3.91 meters (12 feet, 10 inches), breaking the previous mark of 3.89m (12 ft. 9 in.).
Tori Dotson won the 800m for the second time this outdoor season with a winning time of 2:13.66. Astoria Beckett finished second with the fifth-fastest personal record in school history in the event at 2:14.83.
Brooke Burns' personal record throw of 44.34m (145 ft. 5 in.) is the fourth-best outdoor mark in school history in the discus.
Taylor Robinson hit a personal record in the 100 meter hurdles with a time of 13.88 in the prelims, which sets her alone with the fourth-fastest personal record in school history.
MaryAnn Adebayo hit the fourth-best PR in the hammer throw with her top mark of 54.61m (179 ft. 2 in.)
Ashonti Warner came closer to her school record mark in the 400 meter hurdles, breaking one minute with a time of 59.92.
