CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Marshall track and field team completed the Charlotte Invitational on a rainy Saturday at the Irwin Belk Track and Field Center.
The inclement weather conditions impacted and slowed down all event areas. The 4x400 meter relay was canceled at the end of the meet.
Marshall picked up one win Saturday, with Ashonti Warner taking first in the 400 meter hurdles with a winning time of 60.99. Mikah Alleyne followed her in second (61.45). Alleyne's time was a personal record, and is the fifth-fastest PR in school history.
In the discus, Rebecca Merritt finished second (40.25m/132 ft.) and Brooke Burns (39.34m/129 ft. 1 in.) took third.
Brandy Elysee in the 200m, Kalei Jordan in the 800m and Safiyyah Mitchell in the 100mH each earned third place finishes in their respective events.
Fourth place finishes came from Danere'a White in the 400m, Jillian King in the 400mH and the 4x100m relay.
