Baseball Hosts FIU for Four-Game Series

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – The Marshall University baseball team (4-20, 0-12 C-USA) hosts the FIU Panthers (12-19, 4-8 C-USA) for a four-game series at the Kennedy Center beginning on Friday at 3 p.m.

Freshman Ryan Leitch had a pair of RBI in the loss with a single.

Leitch has a team-high five home runs and is third in RBI with 11.

Sophomore Luke Edwards leads the Herd in extra-base hits (13), doubles (nine), triples (2) and RBI (14).

Freshman Chad Heiner leads MU in ERA among qualifying pitchers with at 4.74 after he threw 6.2 innings at WKU last Friday giving up just one run on two hits.

Junior Raymond Pacella has a team-best 40 strikeouts in 32.2 innings pitched.

The Panthers have a 12-19 record this season and are 4-8 in Conference USA action. It won three of four games against Western Kentucky and took a contest over Old Dominion for the four conference wins.

Adrian Figueroa leads FIU with 36 hits, 20 RBI, tied for the lead in doubles at eight with Luis Chavez and among qualifying hitters leads with a .330 batting average.

Justin Farmer has four homers this season, the most on the Panthers, and is second in RBI with 19.

Steven Ondina has three triples this season to lead the team.
