SPRINGBORO, Ohio – The Marshall men's golf team wrapped its 2021 spring regular season on Monday in the final round of the Wright State Invitational at the Heatherwoode Golf and Country Club.
The Thundering Herd finished tied for seventh out of 17 teams.
"Really tough conditions today," Herd head coach Matt Grobe said. "It got pretty windy as the day went on. We didn't finish as strong as we would have liked but it was a good tournament overall."
Redshirt senior Matt Hoffman led the team tying for 21st. Fellow redshirt senior Cameron Root improved his score by three strokes in the third round and senior Noah Mullens bettered his score by two shots. Senior Brad Plaziak saw a two stroke improvement and moved up nine more places on the leaderboard.
The Wright State Raiders won the home event finishing with a 13-stroke lead over Valparaiso and Ohio. Austin Schoonmaker of Wright State stayed in the lead, however Caleb VanArragon tied Schoonmaker for the top spot after scoring a 3-under 68 in the final round. Both players finished with a 3-under 210.
