Herd Baseball Set for Road Series at No. 14 LA Tech

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – The Marshall University baseball team (6-22, 2-14 C-USA) heads to Ruston, La., to take on the No. 14 Louisiana Tech Bulldogs (26-9, 12-4) in a four-game series beginning Friday (Apr. 23).

Marshall split its home series last weekend winning game of the doubleheader on Saturday and taking Sunday's series finale.

Sophomore centerfielder Luke Edwards leads the Herd with a .312 batting average and 29 hits this season. He also leads the team in extra-base hits (13), doubles (9) and triples (2).

Freshman catcher Ryan Leitch leads MU with 15 RBI and six home runs, while ranking second in batting average at .291.

Junior shortstop Geordon Blanton has been safe in seven of his 10 stolen base attempts.

Junior pitcher Raymond Pacella has started the season with 48 strikeouts in just 39.2 innings pitched in seven starts. He collected his first win and complete game in game two of the series with FIU.

Scouting No. 14 LA Tech
The Bulldogs are 26-9 with a 12-4 record in conference play this season.

They've faced three ranked teams this season and recorded wins against then-No.1 Arkansas and then-No. 4 Ole Miss.

LA Tech has won three of its first four C-USA series with the other series ending in a 2-2 split with Southern Miss.

Hunter Wells leads the team in batting average at .361 and hits at 52, while being tied with Manny Garcia in home runs at seven.

Parker Bates leads the Bulldogs with 36 RBI.

LA Tech has a team-ERA of 3.93 this season. Lefty Jonathan Fincher has a team-best 1.67 ERA among qualifying starters and has struck out 49 batters in nine starts.
