Herd Baseball Set for Road Series at WKU

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – The Marshall University baseball team (4-15, 0-8 C-USA) goes on the road to take on the Western Kentucky Hilltoppers (12-16, 2-6 C-USA) for a four-game series from April 9 through April 11 in Bowling Green, Ky.

Sophomore Luke Edwards leads the Herd in batting average at .338, hits 23, RBI with 14 and extra base hits at 12. Edwards also leads the team in doubles (eight) and triples (two).
Freshman Ryan Leitch has a team-leading four homers this season, while sophomore Kyle Schaefer has hit four balls over the fence.
MU starting pitcher Raymond Pacella has struck out 35 batters in 27.2 innings pitched this season.
Scouting WKU
The Hilltoppers have a 12-16 record this season and are 2-6 in Conference USA action. In conference play, WKU took a game from Charlotte and FIU in their respective four-game series.
Matthew Meyer and Jackson Gray are batting .366 and .363, respectively, to lead Western Kentucky in the category. Meyer also has a team-best 30 hits and 10 doubles, and is second with 20 RBI.
Ray Zuberer III is tied with Meyer for the Hilltopper lead in dingers with three.
Starting pitcher Jake Kates is 2-1 this season leading the pitching staff among qualifiers with a 2.51 ERA in six starts and seven total appearances. He also has 55 strikeouts in 43 innings pitched this season.
