Marshall travels to Conway for first ever meeting with Chanticleers

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – The Marshall University women's soccer team visits Coastal Carolina Thursday for an important road match with the Chanticleers. Kickoff is at 7:00 p.m. from CCU Soccer Stadium in Conway, South Carolina.

PRE-MATCH NOTES
Marshall enters Thursday's match one point ahead of Coastal Carolina, placing the Herd fifth in the Sun Belt East. With three matches remaining before the conference tournament, every match is critical for Marshall in qualifying for the ten-team tournament.
Freshman goalkeeper Alexis Wolgemuth was a finalist for Sun Belt Conference Defensive Player of the Week following her six save performance against JMU. The Lincolnton, North Carolina native is second in the league with her 4.78 saves per game average.
Senior Morgan White is tied for second in the conference with eight goals. Her 0.57 goals per game average is tied for second in the Sun Belt Conference as well.
Senior Kat Gonzalez possesses the second most shots in the league, with 42 total shots. Her average of 3.43 shots per game is third in the conference.
Marshall and Coastal Carolina have never met in women's soccer prior to Thursday's contest.
ABOUT THE CHANTICLEERS
Leading Coastal Carolina is Paul Hogan, who is in his 12th season as head women's soccer coach for CCU. Hogan possesses a 131-111-23 record with the Chants.
Coastal Carolina were picked to finish fifth in the Sun Belt East Preseason Poll. The Chanticleers are 2-9-1, and 1-5-1 in Sun Belt play.
Megan Brouse leads the team with eight goals and two assists in 2022. The senior is third in the Sun Belt with 18 points, and is third in the conference in points per game with an average of 1.29.
Brouse is one of five CCU players who will be honored before the match for the team's senior night ceremony.
