Marshall Readies for Home Series against Merrimack

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – The Marshall University baseball team (9-5) hosts the Merrimack College Warriors (2-6) for a three-game series.
There will be a doubleheader beginning at 11 a.m. on Friday with game three being played Saturday or Sunday at 1 p.m. pending weather.

Marshall fell on Wednesday afternoon, 8-2, to the Eastern Kentucky Colonels at the Kennedy Center.
Ryan Leitch has a team-high 21 RBI, second most in Conference USA, and six doubles, tied for fourth in the conference. The sophomore is tied with Kyle Schaefer with a team-best three home runs. Schaefer has scored 15 runs in the team's 14 games, tied for seventh most in the league.
Jordon Billups has a .375 batting average while Travis Sankovich has a .481 on-base percentage. Cole Williams and Luke Edwards each have 21 hits to lead the Green and White and rank second most in C-USA.
Geordon Blanton leads the conference in stolen bases with eight.
Ryan Capuano has 22 strikeouts, tied for seventh most in Conference USA, in 16 innings pitched across three starts. Among eligible pitchers, Jeffrey Purnell leads Marshall with a 1.69 ERA, seventh best in the conference.
Scouting Merrimack
The Warriors are 2-6 this season after getting swept in a four-game series at No. 19 Texas Tech.
Alex Haba has 13 hits and a .481 batting average to lead his team. Michael Golankiewicz paces Merrimack with nine RBI and a homer.
The Warrior pitching staff has allowed 10 or more runs in six of the teams eight games this season and has a WHIP of 2.54.
