RICHMOND, Ky. – The Marshall women's golf team is through day one of the Colonel Classic on Monday, hosted by Eastern Kentucky at The University Club at Arlington.
The Thundering Herd improved in the second round dropping its score by nine strokes, and moved up three places. The Herd turned in the fifth-best second round score. Marshall is eighth out of 13 teams.
The third and final round tees off Tuesday morning with a shotgun start at 9 a.m. Live scoring is provided by GolfStat.com.
Fifth-year senior Stormy Randazzo is tied for 15th to lead the team. Randazzo dropped her score by three strokes in the second round with a 2-over 74, and moved up 15 places on the leaderboard. She recorded two birdies, four total between the two rounds, and shot par or better on 14-of-18 holes in round two.
Junior Makena Rauch also lowered her score by three strokes and moved up 17 spots on the leaderboard and is tied for 21st. She recorded three total birdies for the day. Rauch birdied her second-to-last hole and then finished with par on her last hole to shoot a 3-over 75.
Senior Jackie Schmidt showed improvement as well lowering her score by five shots in the second round and also moved up 17 places on the leaderboard. She finished the day with three total birdies.
Eastern Kentucky leads its home tournament by nine strokes over Georgia State. Ragga Kristinsdottir of EKU is tied with Jenn David of Akron at the top of the leaderboard. Both players hold a three-stroke lead over Emma Berlin of Georgia State.
