Herd Heads to Virginia for Three-Game Series at ODU

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – The Marshall University baseball team (20-27-1, 9-15 C-USA) heads to Norfolk, Virginia, for a three-game series against the Old Dominion Monarchs (31-15, 13-11 C-USA) beginning on Friday at 6 p.m.

Ryan Leitch has a team-best 14 doubles, ranking in a tie for 11th in the league.

Jeffrey Purnell has 70 strikeouts this season, sixth most in C-USA.

Geordon Blanton is 16-for-17 on stolen base attempts ranking in a tie for fourth in Conference USA. Blanton has 68 stolen bases in his career, second most in program history.

Christian Lucio has three triples this season to lead Herd and are tied for third in the league.

Scouting ODU
The Monarchs are coming off a series victory at Southern Miss last weekend, but is on a three-game skid after falling in the final game of the series and a pair of midweek games to VCU and William & Mary.

Matt Courtney has a Conference USA best 23 homers and his .360 batting average is tied for fifth best in the league.

Starting pitcher Blake Morgan is 6-0 with a 0.68 ERA, best in the conference. Starter Nick Pantos is also 6-0 with a 3.68 ERA.
