Herd Returns Home to Face Morehead State

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – The Marshall University baseball team (20-30-1) returns to the Kennedy Center for a contest against the Morehead State Eagles (23-26) on Tuesday afternoon.

Luke Edwards leads the team with a .371 batting average, 79 hits, 42 runs scored, 49 RBI and 11 homers. The junior's 79 hits lead Conference USA and his .371 batting average ranks third. The Myrtle Beach, S.C., native went 10-for-15 during this past weekend's series at ODU and extended his on-base streak to 60 games.

Ryan Leitch has a team-best 16 doubles, ranking in a tie for eighth in the league.

Jeffrey Purnell has 71 strikeouts this season, eighth most in C-USA.

Geordon Blanton is 16-for-17 on stolen base attempts ranking in a tie for fifth in Conference USA. Blanton has 68 stolen bases in his career, second most in program history.

Christian Lucio has three triples this season to lead Herd and are tied for fourth in the league.

Jordon Billups and Kyle Schaefer, along with Edwards and Leitch have hit 10 or more homers this season.
