Herd Track and Field Teams Start Season Strong at Marshall Opener

Marshall men and women pick up 12 individual victories
HUNTINGTON, W.Va.- The Thundering Herd track and field program opened the 2023-24 season Friday evening with 12 individual victories at the Marshall Opener. The meet was the first for new Director of Track and Field Keith Roberts.
"We got a good gauge tonight, and now we can see where they are at," Coach Roberts said. "The effort was there, the attitudes were there, the energy was there, that is what we were looking for in this first meet. So when we get back from break, this will set us up for a good conference season."
Of the 12 individual wins, Rebecca Merritt was the only performer at the meet to win multiple events (shot put & weight throw).
