Box Score
SAN MARCOS, Texas – The Marshall University baseball team (14-19, 4-11 Sun Belt) fell in the series finale, 5-4, on Sunday in San Marcos, Texas, to the Texas State Bobcats (24-13, 9-6 Sun Belt).
"Tough weekend again for our team," Herd baseball head coach Greg Beals said after Sunday's contest. "We are so close, but need to find the winning edge - the edge that allows us to make great pitches, plays and hits in crunch time. This is a very strong baseball conference. It is often a very fine line that separates the winning and losing team. We will continue to work hard to find that edge."
Luke Edwards led off his third straight game with a hit as he singled to left center.
Starting pitcher Zac Addkison threw 5.0 innings of two-run baseball, only one of which was earned. The San Antonio native recorded five punch outs and stranded seven on the bases in a no decision.
Kyle Schaefer recorded his 25th and 26th RBI of season with a double in the top of the third.
With a bases-loaded walk and a RBI ground out, Gio Ferraro also brought home two runs in the ballgame.
