HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – The Marshall University baseball team (14-19) readies for a pair of midweek contests against the Eastern Kentucky Colonels (15-20).

Owen Ayers ranks fourth in the Sun Belt with 13 doubles this season.

Kyle Schaefer hit his team-leading fifth homer of the season over the weekend at Texas State. He has also driven in 26 runs, tied with Ayers for the team lead.

With 42 hits and 28 runs scored, Luke Edwards leads Marshall in both categories this season.

Tuesday's scheduled starting pitcher Chad Heiner has a 1-1 record this season in 12 appearances, including four starts . Heiner has 15 strikeouts in 23.2 innings pitched.

The Colonels took its series this past weekend over No. 15 Florida Gulf Coast with wins on Friday and Saturday. EKU has turned 36 double plays this season, sixth most in Division I baseball.

The team's pitching staff has thrown three shutouts to lead the ASUN.

Logan Thomason leads the team with 39 hits while his seven homers and 27 RBI are tied for the team lead on the Colonels.
