Kylee Mastin breaks Women’s Mile School Record
LOUISVILLE, Ky.- The Marshall track and field program wrapped up its third meet in as many weeks at the PNC Lenny Lyles Invitational Saturday.
The Herd scored four on day-two of the meet which featured schools from the ACC, American, and Big Ten among the competition.
"Our student-athletes produced some great results this weekend," Director of Track and Field Keith Roberts said. "This was a big meet with a lot of Power-5 competition. We always talk to our team about respecting the top competitors but also understanding that we are Marshall and we can compete with anyone. We had two school records, two meet winners, multiple personal bests, and numerous people moving up on the Sun Belt list. I can sense the energy increasing within our team, and the amount of people believing in themselves and their teammates. We worked on execution this week and focused on energy and excitement. We'll get back to work this week at practice to start gearing up for Championship season."
Following Abby Herring breaking the 3K record Friday, junior Kylee Mastin broke the school record in the mile Saturday, racing a 4:46.58. Mastin previously set the mark last season with a 4:49.91.
Mikah Alleyne and Rebecca Merritt also finished in the top-10 in the 400 and Shot Put respectively. The Men's 4x400 relay team finished 10th with its best time since the program returned last season (3:18.72).
