Herring Breaks 5K School Record on Day One of Marshall Invitational

HUNTINGTON, W.Va.- School records falling have become a nearly-weekly occurrence for Marshall track and field. For Abby Herring, Friday's mark fell in the form of the school's Indoor 5K record.Â
The Parkersburg graduate senior raced a 16:21.09 to also break the Marshall Invitational meet record and the Jeff Small Track record. The previous meet and track record was broken by over 20 seconds, the school record was displaced by over a full minute (17:22.38).Â
Other victories included Dianna Goodman in the Women's Pole Vault, and Rebecca Merritt in the Women's Weight Throw. The Marshall women swept the podium of the Women's Weight Throw with Madyia McCullough and Josie Moore finishing second and third.Â
