Marshall Baseball Set for Midweek Contest Against WVU in Charleston

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – The Marshall University Baseball team (6-9) readies to renew its rivalry with the West Virginia Mountaineers (9-7) on Tuesday for the first of three games this season between the in-state opponents.

Tuesday's contest is set for a 6 p.m. first pitch at GoMart Ballpark in Charleston, West Virginia.

PRE-GAME NOTES

The Herd won its weekend series against the Southeast Missouri State Redhawks with wins on Saturday and Sunday.
On Sunday, Owen Ayers hit the first walk-off homer at Jack Cook Field to win the game 5-4. It was the seniors fifth of the season.
Griffin Miller was the winning pitcher in both victories over SEMO moving his record to 3-0, tied for the Sun Belt Conference lead.
With a pair of saves this season, Nichloas Weyrich is third in the conference.
Chad Heiner was the winner of last week's midweek game against Bellarmine, throwing 7.0 innings on the bump, giving up just two runs on five hits and striking out five without walking a Knight.

ABOUT THE MOUNTAINEERS

WVU opened Big 12 action last weekend with a series victory over BYU in Morgantown.
Logan Sauve has a team-best .317 batting average with Sam White at a team-high 18 hits.
Grant Hussey leads the Mountaineers with four homers as Sauve, White and Benjamin Lumsden each have three. Lumsden leads his side with 13 RBI.
Out of the bullpen, Hambleton Oliver has 14.1 innings with 16 strikeouts across six appearances. He has a 1.88 ERA and a 2-1 record in those relief outings this season.
