Harthan registers 17th multi-hit game

HARRISONBURG, Va. – The Marshall University Baseball team (16-34, 8-18 Sun Belt) dropped game two, 5-3, on the road to James Madison Dukes (30-19, 15-11 Sun Belt) Saturday afternoon in Harrisonburg, Virginia.
"We played a clean game of baseball today simply came up short," Herd Baseball head coach Greg Beals said. "Offensively we put ourselves into position several times but were unable to get the key hits. Timely hitting was missing today. Bryce Blevins pitched and competed tough again today - one mistake in a bad count resulted in a three-run homer really hurt. Our backs are against it now relative to our tournament chances - we need to win out and that starts tomorrow."
At the plate, Cam Harthan went 2-for-5 with a triple and an RBI in game two of the series.
Starting pitcher Bryce Blevins went at least 7.0 innings for the seventh time this season. Out of the bullpen, Alex McKay threw a scoreless eighth inning allowing just one walk.
All three of The Herd's runs came in the top of the fourth. Calin Smith brought home AJ Havrilla with a double as a Tre Hondras groundout scored Elijah Vogelsong. The final run came on Harthan's triple plating Smith.
Four of JMU's came in the bottom of the third with an insurance run on a Fenwick Trimble homer in the fifth.
