HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – The Marshall University Swimming and Diving team travels to Athens, Ohio for a tri meet against the Ohio Bobcats and Buffalo Bulls Friday and Saturday. Friday's session is scheduled to start at 5 p.m. with Saturday beginning at 10 a.m.

Maddie Emment was named the American Conference Freshman Swimmer of the Week on Tuesday. Emment had a historic first collegiate meet against West Virginia winning the 1000 Freestyle with the fourth-fastest time in program history (10:04.24), placing second in the 500 Freestyle with the fourth-fastest time in program history (4:52.46) and winning the 200 Freestyle with the fifth-fastest time in program history (1:49.49).

The native of England also was a member of the 200 Freestyle Relay winning team with Kseniia Luniushina, Elyse Wood and Karley Wolfgram finishing with a time of 1:33.73.

All three of Emment's individual times rank second in the American this season with the relay time being the third fastest in the conference and fastest of the week.

Individually, Luniushina swam an NCAA qualifying time of 52.59 in the 100 Backstroke, the fastest in the American this season. The sophomore started the meet with the lead off leg of the 400 Medley Relay with Maddy Akin, Lauren McNamara and Elyse Wood to set the pool record and registered the second fastest time in program history, and fastest time in the American this season at 3:39.28.
