Herd Baseball Set to Host EKU on Tuesday

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – The Marshall University Baseball team (13-15) returns to Jack Cook Field to begin a four-game homestand on Tuesday against the EKU Colonels (4-24).

PRE-GAME NOTES

The Herd closed out its series No. 17 Troy with a 6-5 win in 11 innings on Sunday.
Maika Niu has 11 multi-hit games this season. Niu's 32 hits and 22 runs scored lead the Herd.
Ethan Murdoch hit his team-leading eighth homer of the season Sunday at Troy and is tied with AJ Havrilla for the team-lead at 23 RBI.
Probable starter Peyton Jackson is making his first start of the season. In nine relief appearances this year, Jackson has five strikeouts in 9.1 innings on the bump.

ABOUT THE COLONELS

EKU is on a four-game skid after falling 10-0 at No. 12 Vanderbilt on Tuesday and suffering a series sweep at North Alabama over the weekend.
Like Jackson, probable starter Christian Howe is making slated to make his first start of the season. In seven relief appearances, Howe 11 punchouts in 9.1 innings.
Diego Alana leads the team with a .316 batting average and 31 hits.
With 15 RBI, Nazir Mendez leads the Colonels as he sits tied for the team at five homers with Julius Scearce.
