HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – The Marshall University Baseball team (14-15) took its midweek contest, 2-1, over the EKU Colonels (4-25) in 10 innings at Jack Cook Field on Tuesday night. The Herd moves to 3-0 in extra-inning contests in 2025.

"It's always good to get a win," Herd Baseball Head Coach Greg Beals said. "We really pitched the ball well tonight. These midweek games are opportunities to keep everybody sharp so we're ready for the weekend. Everybody took the ball tonight and pitched it really well."

Tied 1-1 in the bottom of the 10th, Cam Harthan led off with a single. After an EKU strikeout, Eddie Leon stepped to the plate. With an 0-2 count and fouling off a couple pitches, Leon hit the fifth pitch of his at bat down the left field line. The senior's double chased home Harthan for the walk off victory.

Ethan Murdoch tied the game in the bottom of the seventh, scoring Maika Niu on his first single of a two-hit game.

The Marshall pitching staff was dominant in the win. MU rolled out eight pitchers in the game, who combined to give up just three hits and strikeout 14.

Tim Baird earned his third win of the season with a scoreless 10th and striking out a pair of Colonels.

In the third, Luke Proehl struck out the side as Blaine Albright followed with a perfect 1.1 innings. Charlie Krebs struck out four in the eighth and ninth innings, including stranding runners at first and second to end the ninth.

Peyton Jackson, Kenyon Collins and Alex McKay all added a pair of strikeouts on the bump.

UP NEXT
Marshall is scheduled to start a three-game series against No. 13 Southern Miss on Friday with a 6 p.m. first pitch at Jack Cook Field.
