HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – The Marshall University Baseball team (8-6) extended its winning streak to seven games with an 11-6 win over the Bradley Braves (2-9) on Saturday to clinch the series.

"The game didn't start off the right way. We started out slow," Herd Baseball Head Coach Greg Beals said after the victory. "I thought Griffin pitched good and they just found holes early in the game. I'm really proud of how Griffin Miller stuck to it and got us deep into the ballgame. He pitched very effectively in the back half of his outing. Then we go 10 unanswered runs. The thing I like about this ballclub is that they're getting that believing feeling. You believe it before it happens."

The Herd had four with multi-hit games with Cam Harthan, Maika Niu, Nolan Wilson and Eddie Leon each collecting a pair of hits. Niu registered his fifth multi-hit effort of the season as Leon extended his hitting streak to 10 games.

AJ Havrilla and Niu each picked up three RBI in the win as Harthan drove in a pair of runs and scored a pair along with Leon and Elijah Vogelsong each crossing home twice.

Griffin Miller earned his second win of the season going 6.0-plus innings with five strikeouts as he allowed just two earned runs on seven hits and three walks. Tim Baird threw a pair of hitless frames while recording six strikeouts against seven batters faced.

MU found itself trailing 5-1 after three innings with the home side's run coming on an Ethan Murdoch RBI single that scored Jackson Halter in the bottom of the first.

However, the Green and White found its grove in the fourth. Wilson, Leon and Harthan led off the bottom of the inning with a single each to load the bases. Niu then stepped to the plate. The shortstop fouled off a couple of pitches and forced a full count. On the eighth pitch of the at bat, Niu smoked a ball to deep center for a bases clearing double to pull within one, 5-4.

The Herd continued its momentum into the fifth seeing the bases loaded again with Vogelsong, Tyler Kamerer and Leon on the bags with one out. Harthan then sent the first pitch of his plate appearance through the right side to score Vogelsong and Kamerer to give MU a 6-5 advantage.

After a Harthan steal, a walk to Niu and an out, Havrilla stepped to the dish with the bases loaded and two outs. The sophomore sent his 1-2 pitch to right to clear the bases with a three-RBI double to make it 9-5 after five innings of play.

Marshall added another run in the bottom of the sixth as Vogelsong crossed home to make it 10-5 on a Wilson sacrifice fly.

MU found itself in a jam with Bradley runners at first and second with no outs as Baird came on from the bullpen for Miller. After walking his first batter, Baird struck out the next six Braves he faced across the seventh and eighth frames.

The Herd added an insurance run in the eighth with Havrilla scoring from second on a Kamerer infield single.

Bradley scored a run in the top of the ninth, Peyton Jackson finished the game with the final three outs to clinch the game and series.
