HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – Marshall Baseball senior right-handed pitcher Nicholas Weyrich was selected by the Chicago White Sox in the 19th round of the 2025 MLB Draft on Monday.
Â
"I am really happy for Nick," Herd Baseball Head Coach Greg Beals said. "He has the athleticism to make the adjustment to be a submarine pitcher and then he put in the work. We asked Nick to pitch in the toughest of situations and he handled it like a true competitor. I look forward to watching Nick's continued development as a professional."
Â
A native of London, Ohio, Weyrich appeared on the mound in 85 ballgames with 83 relief appearances and two starts. During his career, Weyrich has accumulated 12 saves and eight wins with 146 strikeouts in 138.1 innings in his four seasons. In those 85 appearances, he had multiple strikeouts in 39 outings including a career-high nine in a career-high 7.2 innings on March 24, 2024, against Arkansas State.
Â
At the 2025 Sun Belt Conference Tournament in Montgomery, Alabama, he earned the final two saves of his career in a pair of Marshall wins over Louisiana.
