HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – The Marshall University Baseball team (13-14, 5-4 SBC) dropped its midweek contest on Tuesday night to the Ohio Bobcats (6-22) at Jack Cook Field, 5-3.

"Incredibly disappointed in how we played tonight," Herd Baseball Head Coach Greg Beals said. "Tonight was a great opportunity for us to get back in the winning ways after a tough week against high-caliber competition and just very disappointed in how we played."

AJ Havrilla hit his fifth home run of the season for a pair of RBI as Ethan Murdoch went 2-for-4.

Davis Gunn and Alex Caudill each hurled scoreless frames out of the bullpen.

The Bobcats took an early 2-0 lead with runs in the fourth and fifth.

However, after Jack Halter drew a one-out walk on four straight pitches, Havrilla tied the game with a two-run homer off the top of the scoreboard in the bottom of the sixth.

Ohio then answered with a run in the top of the seventh. In the bottom of the seventh, Mason Onate got hit by pitch to lead off the seventh. Then with two outs in the frame, Tyler Kamerer hit a pop up, but the Bobcat infield lost it in the lights as he reached for a single and Onate scored from second after running on contact with two outs to tie the contest 3-3.

After a scoreless eighth from both sides, Ohio broke the tie with a two-out homer from Will Henson in the top of the ninth for the eventual game-winning runs.
