HUNTINGTON, W.Va. — After two home meets to begin the 2025-26 campaign, Marshall Track & Field travels to Louisville's Norton Healthcare Sports & Learning Center for the Bellarmine Open.
The one-day meet takes place Friday, Jan. 16 starting at 10 a.m. for the field events. The first event on the track is 12:15 p.m.
"We're on the road for the first time, so making sure we're doing all the right things," Director of Track & Field Keith Roberts said. "Spending the night in a hotel is a lot different than in your dorm or apartment, so make sure we come to the track and warm up properly. There are going to be some different teams and a banked track so we are going to have to adjust to that. It is really just a dress rehearsal for the conference meet and I want to see us continue to grow in every area and increase rankings in conference from top to bottom."
The Herd has set four school records set so far this season with 37 event victories between the opening two meets. One of the records set was senior Lara Check's Long Jump mark set at 6.19 meters in the Marshall Opener - a mark which leads the Sun Belt Conference and is 4th in the Mid-Atlantic Region.
"[The team] has improved so much every year, the team has just gotten better and better," Check said. "The jumps crew this year is insane, we've got some really high ranking athletes in the country. It will be great to see how this travel meet goes and how the team overall performs."
