MOBILE, Ala. – The Marshall University Baseball team (18-19, 9-8 SBC) dropped game two on Saturday at South Alabama (23-16, 9-8 SBC), 7-3.
Â
"Today was not our day," Herd Baseball Head Coach Greg Beals said. "Offensively, South Alabama executed a good plan against Harlow. I thought Drew pitched better than his numbers - they found a lot of holes. Give their pitchers credit - they pitched us tough today, and we were unable to get much going offensively. The mission is to win a road series. We hoped to win today with a chance to sweep, but that didn't happen. The mission is ongoing, and we look forward to completing it tomorrow."
Â
Jackson Halter hit his sixth homer of the season to go with a multi-hit game as Tyler Kamerer and Cooper Hinson also picked up a pair of hits in the contest.
Â
Out of the bullpen, Blaine Albright hurled a pair of perfect innings to go with three strikeouts.
Â
MU got on the board first with an AJ Havrilla sacrifice bunt scoring Kamerer in the top of the first.
Â
The Jaguars answered with a pair of runs in the first, three in the second and one in the third to take a 6-1 lead.
Â
Havrilla then brought home Hinson with a two-out single in the top of the sixth, but South Alabama answered with a run in the bottom of the frame.
Â
Halter hit his home run in the ninth with one out, but Marshall couldn't overcome the deficit in the final inning.
