Halter, Havrilla register an RBI in the ballgame

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – The Marshall University Baseball team (18-21) dropped its midweek contest on Wednesday, 11-2, to Morehead State (19-21) at Jack Cook Field.

"I'm disappointed in the way we played today," Herd Baseball Head Coach Greg Beals said. "I thought we played with a lack of focus."

Jackson Halter and AJ Havrilla each had a RBI in the ball game. After the fourth inning, the MU pitching staff allowed just one run. A.J. McAninch and Lauren Doll each hurled perfect innings.

Alex Caudill, Charlie Krebs, Davis Gunn and Doll struck out a pair of batters each in their inning of work.

The Eagles started the game with a pair of runs in the top of the first, but Havrilla chased home Evan Bottone with a single to center and Halter scored Kamerer with a double down the right-field line to the game 2-2.

The Morehead State offense then tallied four runs in the second, two in the third and two in the fourth to jump to a 10-4 advantage. The visitors added another run in the eighth as Marshall couldn't overcome the deficit.

The Herd starts a three-game series against Troy on Friday with a 6 p.m. first pitch at Jack Cook Field.
