HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – The Marshall University Baseball team (19-22, 10-10 SBC) fell 8-2 in game two to the Troy Trojans (21-22, 11-9 SBC) on Saturday afternoon at Jack Cook Field.

"We didn't get off to a good start," Herd Baseball Head Coach Greg Beals said. "(Drew) Harlow just wasn't sharp out of the gates. I thought he did a pretty good job of staying in the game and getting five innings deep, but he wasn't sharp. The message to the guys was that we didn't figure out their starting pitcher fast enough. We finally got to him, but we needed to get to him quicker than we did."

Jackson Golden went a perfect 3-for-3 at the plate with two RBI. Blaine Albright hurled a scoreless ninth with two strikeouts out of the bullpen.

Troy started the contest with three two-out runs in the top of the first, including Blake Cavill's second homer of the series.
Â
Caden Reeves hit a two-run long ball for the Trojans in the top of the fourth to see the visitors go up 5-0.

After Troy tallied a sixth run in the top of the sixth, Golden plated Oliver Service and Jackson Halter with a double to make it 6-2.
Â
Reeves hit his second two-run homer in the top of the seventh to see the Trojans through to even the series.

The Herd looks to take the series against Troy in game three on Sunday. First pitch is scheduled for 1 p.m. at Jack Cook Field.
