R-JUNIOR SEASON (2016): Weight room warrior who posted some of the best numbers of the TE/LB/FB group in program history … In July 2016, posted the third-best squat in program history (630 pounds), a record-breaking power clean (365 pounds), second-best bench press at 225 pounds (36 repetitions), record-breaking bench press (505 pounds), third-best vertical jump (39 inches) and fifth-best broad jump (10 feet, 3 inches) … Saw action in eight games at linebacker and defensive end … Recorded 33 tackles with 1.5 tackles for a loss and one pass breakup … Debuted against Morgan State with seven tackles … Recorded seven tackles against Akron … Five tackles vs. Pitt and North Texas.

TRANSFER SEASON (2015): Sat out 2015 at Marshall after transferring from Arizona State, where he enrolled in January 2015 … Did not go through 2015 spring practice at ASU after graduating in 1 1/2 years from Butler CCC with a 3.4 GPA.

JUNIOR COLLEGE SEASONS (2013-14):  At national JUCO power Butler, selected Arizona State over Oregon and Ole Miss … In two seasons with the Grizzlies, played 12 games, posted 58 tackles with 6 sacks and 2 forced fumbles and a fumble recovery … As 2014 sophomore, played five games with 46 tackles, 3 sacks, a forced fumble and a fumble recovered … In seven games as 2013 freshman, made 12 tackles to go with 3 sacks and a forced fumble.

HERD FILE: Born March 16, 1994 … Full name is Davon Willie Lee Durant … South Carolina native regarded by Rivals as the top junior college linebacker prospect in the nation in 2014 at Butler County Community College in Kansas … Joined Marshall program in August 2015 from Arizona State … Was rated as the No. 8 JUCO prospect overall by Rivals … At Butler, was offered by Arizona State, Oregon, Ole Miss, Clemson, Florida State, Georgia, Kansas State, South Carolina, Texas A&M and Washington, among others … Committed to South Carolina while in junior college, then flipped to ASU while considering Oregon and Ole Miss … At Greenwood (S.C.) High School, was part of program that won 50 games in four-year span … In senior season of 2012, was part of 15-0 Eagles team that won South Carolina Class AAAA Division II state title with 15-0 record … Played in 76th annual Shrine Bowl for North Carolina/South Carolina All-Stars, where he tied for game-high with nine tackles and also forced a fumble and made a 47-yard fumble return to help South Carolina win … Invited to Blue-Gray All-American Game at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa … Cousin of former Greenwood High and South Carolina standout D.J. Swearinger, a safety with the NFL Arizona Cardinals … Was 2012 Lakelands Player of the Year despite playing through injuries his senior season at GHS.
