Baseball Falls to Virginia Tech in Charleston

CHARLESTON, W.Va. – Marshall baseball (12-7) fell to Virginia Tech, 11-3, Wednesday night in Charleston at Appalachian Power Park.
 
Shane Hanon launched his third home run of the year over the left-field fence to put the Herd on top, 2-0, after the first inning.
 
After a scoreless second inning by both sides, the Hokies took over the game beginning in the third. Virginia Tech scored all 11 of its runs between the third and seventh innings, including four in the sixth.
 
Tucker Linder doubled home Erik Rodriguez for the Herd's third run in the fifth inning.
 
NOTES
- Elvis Peralta extended his hit streak to eight games.
- Hanon has now reached base safely in 13 consecutive ball games.
- Zach Inskeep saw a 12-game hit streak come to an end.
 
UP NEXT
The Herd continues action with a three-game series on Friday at Conference USA foe Charlotte.
