Thundering Herd Nabs Six Wins in Savannah

Batson wins discus and hammer
SAVANNAH, Ga.- Marshall Track and Field wrapped up a quick, one-day affair at Savannah State University. The invitational was the Herd's third competition of the outdoor season.
Marshall came away dominating the afternoon, grabbing six wins and 20 top-three finishes.
Senior Reneese Batson had a particularly great day, winning both the discus (42.57 meters) and hammer throw (54.11 meters). In those same events, Kylie Miles finished third (35.03) and fourth (38.73), respectively.
In triple jump, freshman Takira Williams won with a mark of 10.94 meters. Senior Lauren George came in second (10.65). Williams also placed second in long jump (5.36 meters), while George finished fifth (5.17) in the same event.
Marshall's pole vaulting duo of Lauren Zaglifa and Macie Majoy continued its season-long excellence. With what has become a near-weekly occurrence, the two again found themselves taking turns finishing first and second. Zaglifa won this week with a mark of 11 feet and 6 inches, while Majoy came in second (mark of 11 feet).
In the longer distance track events of the day, Alyssa Long won the 1500-meter with a time of 5:17.79. The men's 3000-meter saw Coy Smith (9:02.68), Ian Domenick (9:07.39), and Josh Endress (9:08.77) take first, second and third, respectively.
UP NEXT:
On Friday, Marshall will be in Gainesville, Florida for the Pepsi Florida Relays. Over 100 collegiate programs, and a handful of Olympians, are set to compete.
