Warner Takes Third at Virginia Challenge

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Earlier Saturday evening, Marshall track and field wrapped up its final day at the Virginia Challenge.

In high jump, the team's only field event of the day, senior Sarah Bever scored a mark of 1.59 meters on her way to 10th place.

The remaining four events were all races: 100-meter hurdles, 400-meter hurdles, 4x100m relay and 4x400m relay.

Junior Safiyyah Mitchell recorded the highest team finish, among three other Marshall runners, in the 100-meter hurdles. Her time of 13.78 was good for 12th. Taylor Robinson finished 17th (14.01), Christianna Dogan finished 26th (14.45) and Sarah Bever came in 32nd (14.73).

Ashonti Warner ran a 1:02.42 (her second fastest of the outdoor season) in the 400-meter hurdles. The time was good for third place, and ended up as Marshall's best finish at the Virginia Challenge.

To cap off the day, the Herd's 4x100m team finished fourth with a 46.66 time, and the 4x400m team came in 10th (3:53.44).

UP NEXT: The team will head to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania for the Penn Relays, a competition that will run from Thursday to Saturday.
