Herd Baseball Falls in Doubleheader to UAB

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – Herd baseball (9-34, 5-26 C-USA) dropped both games of Saturday's doubleheader to the UAB Blazers (18-34, 11-19 C-USA), 9-0 in game one and 6-0 in game two.
Â
Game 1
The Blazers got on the board early with three runs in the top of the first and five in the top of the second.
Â
Cody Sharp came out of the Herd bullpen in the top of the third, throwing a scoreless inning and striking out a batter.
Â
Reliever Bryan Callaly then came on in the fourth. Callaly went three innings giving up just a hit and a walk while striking out two Blazers.
Â
Relief pitcher Michael Guerrero gave up a run in the seventh, but struck out two in his inning of work.
Â
Marshall had three hits in game one as third baseman Travis Sankovich had singles in the first and sixth innings, while right fielder Jordon Billups singled in the third.

Game 2
Starting pitcher Zac Addkison stranded the bases loaded with Blazers to end his first inning of work.
Â
UAB then struck for three runs in the second and a pair of runs in the third.
Â
Reliever Ayden Hodges threw scoreless fourth and fifth innings, giving up just two walks and striking out a batter.
Â
After giving up a run in the sixth, Ryan Capuano threw a 1-2-3 inning in the seventh.
Â
Catcher Ryan Leitch and Sankovich had Marshall's two hits in game with singles in the first and third, respectively.

UP NEXT
The Herd closes its season on Sunday with game four of the series against UAB on Senior Day. First pitch is scheduled for 1 p.m.
