Marshall scored eight runs in series opener

CHARLESTON, S.C. – Chris Noble hit a pair of two-run homers on Friday as the Marshall University baseball team (3-1) fell to the Charleston Southern Buccaneers (2-3), 18-8, in Charleston, South Carolina, in the series opener.

"Today was a tough on the mound for us," Herd baseball head coach Greg Beals said after the team's first loss of the season. "We simply got stuck up in the zone. When we executed the bottom of the zone, we had success. We took a punch today. I look forward to seeing how we bounce back tomorrow."

Noble's homers came in the fourth and sixth innings, both scoring Daniel Carinci.

Carinci also had a day at the plate going 3-for-4 with three runs scored, including a solo homerun in the top on the second.

With a pair of hits, Gabriel Cabrera tallied a pair of RBI as Luke Edwards doubled home Gio Ferraro in the bottom of the third.
