Â
SAN MARCOS, Texas – The Marshall University baseball team (14-17, 4-9 Sun Belt) fell in game one on Friday night, 5-1, to the Texas State Bobcats (22-13, 7-6 Sun Belt) in San Marcos, Texas.
Â
"Give their pitcher credit, he obviously pitched his tail off and was really tough on us," Herd baseball head coach Greg Beals said about opposing pitcher Levi Wells' complete game. "We didn't play clean enough on defense to stay in a tough game like that."
Â
Kyle Schaefer went 3-for-3 and reached on a hit-by-pitch in the contest for his fourth game of three or more hits this season. The fifth-year senior hit his team-leading fifth homer of the season in the top of the fourth.
