Noble hits solo homer
Box Score
HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – The Marshall University baseball team (15-20) fell on Wednesday, 9-2, to the Eastern Kentucky Colonels (16-21) at the Kennedy Center in the two teams' final matchup of the season.
"I was a little disappointed in our focus and our ability to compete. We competed extremely well yesterday. I feel like we faltered on that today," Herd baseball head coach Greg Beals said.
Marshall put up the first run in the bottom of the first as a Gio Ferraro single brought home Owen Ayers after starting pitcher Raymond Pacella threw a scoreless top half of the inning. Pacella struck out three of the five batters he faced in his outing.
In the bottom of the fourth, Chris Noble homered for the fourth time this season.
David Dielman saw his first collegiate action as he threw the eighth and ninth innings, striking out a pair of Colonels.
UP NEXT
Marshall is back in action on Friday when it starts a three-game Sun Belt Conference series against Georgia Southern. First pitch is scheduled for 3 p.m. at the Kennedy Center.
