Majoy Earns Gold in Women’s Pole Vault on First Day of SBC Championship

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. — The Marshall track and field teams opened the Sun Belt Outdoor Championship, with Macie Majoy earning the school's second Sun Belt Conference championship
Majoy won the Pole Vault with a 3.96 meter vault. Majoy represents the second conference championship won for the school in the Sun Belt Conference era. The graduate senior won the Indoor Pole Vault Championship earlier this season.
The Huron, Ohio native will move on in an attempt to qualify at the NCAA Prelims in Jacksonville, Fla. on May 24.
Other scorers for the Herd included MaryAnn Adebayo and Rebecca Merritt in the Women's Hammer Throw. The duo finished fifth and sixth respectively, earning 10 points.
Abby Herring scored a fourth place finish in the 10K, racing a 35:07.74.
The Herd women lead after four completed events 28 points. The second day starts Friday at 11:00 a.m.
