Edwards collects three hits in ballgame

CHARLESTON, W.Va. – The Marshall University baseball team (16-29, 5-19 Sun Belt) fell 8-4 in the series finale to the James Madison Dukes (27-20, 12-10 Sun Belt) on Sunday at GoMart Ballpark in Charleston.

With a 3-for-5 day at the plate, Luke Edwards registered his 17th multi-hit game of the season, including his fifth of three or more hits. The Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, scored on a Daniel Carinci sacrifice fly in the first and brought Kebler Peralta on a single in the eighth.
The three hits put Edwards at 242 career hits, eight away from tying Adam Frederick who is second in program history with 250.

Peralta also had a multi-hit game as he singled and recorded his second triple of the season, scoring Gio Ferraro in the second inning. Peralta was then brought home by Eddie Leon on a single.

Kyle Schaefer also had a pair of singles for his 12th multi-hit game of the season.

Starting pitcher Zac Addkison went 5.0 innings on the bump allowing three runs on five hits and five walks while punching out five Dukes.

Marshall is back in action on Tuesday at the Kennedy Center against the Ohio Bobcats at 3 p.m.
