Box Score
HUNTINGTON, Ohio – Daniel Carinci registered his fifth contest of three or more hits in the Marshall University baseball team's (16-30) 7-2 loss to the Ohio Bobcats (17-25) on Tuesday at the Kennedy Center.
"I thought we were flat today. I thought we were a little flat in our preparation, all the way through," Herd baseball head coach Greg Beals said after the game. "And again, the big inning is the difference in the game. It seems to be a common thread and we need to be more competitive throughout."
One of Carinci's three hits tallied the first run of the ballgame on a solo homer to left in the bottom of the fourth. It was his fourth long ball of the season.
Kyle Schaefer recorded his team-leading 33rd RBI on a sacrifice fly, scoring Owen Ayers, in the bottom of the eighth. Ayers collected his team-best 18th multi-hit contest of the season with a pair of singles.
With a leadoff single in the bottom of the third, Luke Edwards moved his career-hit total to 243.
Reliever Eddie Leon went 3.2 innings on the mound allowing just two runs on four hits and three walks while fanning six Bobcats.
