Jack Firestone smacks three-run homer for Herd's first runs of 2024

CHARLESTON, S.C. – Marshall Baseball got its 2024 season underway on Friday, falling to College of Charleston, 15-3, in the opener at The Ballpark at Patriots Point.
"It was obviously not the start we were looking for, but we kept competing throughout," Marshall Baseball head coach Greg Beals said. "We need to learn from it and get better. The beauty of baseball is that we get to wash this down the shower drain tonight and get right back at it tomorrow."
Marshall's first runs of the 2024 season came in grand fashion with senior center fielder Jack Firestone smacking a three-run home run in the top of the eighth inning.
Firestone's home run plated Gio Ferraro and Jay Kehoe. Ferraro reached on a walk while Kehoe came in to run for Owen Ayers, who had singled to open the frame.
Marshall returns to the field for Game 2 of the series at 2 p.m. on Saturday when Cole Agemy takes the mound looking to get the Herd its first win of the 2024 season.
