Herd Baseball Continues Season at Snowbird Classic

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – The Marshall University Baseball team (0-4) is set to continue its season at the Snowbird Classic this weekend. The Herd will pair four games from Friday through Sunday, playing a pair each against Indiana State (4-0) and Michigan State (1-3).

All four games will be played in Port Charlotte, Florida, at Centennial Park.

Game 1, Friday, February 23, vs. Michigan State – 4 p.m.
Game 2, Saturday, February 24, vs. Indiana State – Noon
Game 3, Saturday, February 24, vs. Michigan State – 3:30 p.m.
Game 4, Sunday, February 25, vs. Indiana State – 1 p.m.

PRE-GAME NOTES

Marshall played its opening series at the College of Charleston last weekend.
Caden Kaiser and Gio Ferraro each went 4-for-12 in the team's opening four games with two RBI each. Ferraro recorded a pair of extra-base hits with two doubles.
Marshall had some dominant innings out of its bullpen including 2.2 shutout innings from both Nicholas Weyrich and Griffin Miller. Weyrich registered four strikeouts with Miller sitting at three.

ABOUT THE SPARTANS

Michigan State began its season at the Swig & Swine Classic in Charleston, South Carolina, last weekend going 1-3 with a win over Merrimack.
Nick Williams recorded six hits in 15 at bats with a double.
Noah Matheny hurled four scoreless innings against Lehigh on February 17 with six strikeouts.

ABOUT THE SYCAMORES

Indiana State went 3-0 at the USF Tournament defeating Lousiville, UCONN and USF before picking up a mid-week victory at Florida Gulf Coast on Wednesday.
Randal Diaz has six hits in 15 ABs with Luis Hernandez bringing home a team-best six runs in the first four games.
Luke Hayden and Cameron Holycross combined for a five-hit shutout against USF on the final day of the tournament.
