Herd Track and Field Teams Open Outdoor Season With 13 Scorers

Rebecca Merritt scores twice in field events
CHARLOTTE, N.C. - Fitting for the first outdoor meet of the year, Marshall track and field waited out a weather delay on the first day of the Charlotte 49er Classic Friday.
The Herd had "a baker's dozen" individuals score on the opening day. Senior and 2023 NCAA Prelim Qualifier Rebecca Merritt scored in both the Hammer Throw and Discus.
Several more individuals finished in the top-ten of their event, including Isaiah Valentine in the men's 400.
Day two from UNC Charlotte starts at 9 a.m. Saturday.
