HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – The Marshall University Baseball team (13-25, 6-11 Sun Belt) fell in game two of its series with Old Dominion (20-18, 8-9 Sun Belt) on Saturday, 3-1, at Jack Cook Field.

"We didn't execute the game plan offensively today," Herd Baseball head coach Greg Beals said after the game. "We had a game plan; I liked our game plan against their starting pitcher. We didn't do a good job. We knew what their bullpen guys were going to do, and they beat us tonight."

Bryce Blevins registered his fifth quality start of the season giving up three runs, only one earned, on five hits and a walk across 8.0 innings with nine strikeouts. The outing was the sophomore's third of the season with at least nine strikeouts.

Out of the bullpen, Peyton Schofield hurled a perfect ninth inning with a strikeout.

Marshall's run came in the bottom of the first. Cam Harthan led off with a double and was brought home two batters later on a sacrifice fly by AJ Havrilla. Havrilla saw his on-base streak come to an end at 19 games.

On his 18th double of the season in the sixth, Owen Ayers extended his on-base streak to 18 contests.

All three of the Monarchs' runs came in the fifth. Jake Ticer hit a homer to lead off the frame as the visitors tallied their final two runs on a pair of errors and a passed ball.
