STATESBORO, Ga. – The Marshall University Baseball team (13-29, 6-15 Sun Belt) fell in the series finale, 10-4, on Sunday in Statesboro, Georgia, to the Georgia Southern Eagles (23-21, 12-9 Sun Belt).
"We gave up entirely too many free bases today - it is really hard to win when you give the opponent 13 free base runners," Herd Baseball head coach Greg Beals said after the final game of the series. "Offensively we got hits - we need to string a few more together and hit better with runners in scoring position. We must bounce back from this weekend, and we have that opportunity this week with 2 games against EKU."
Cam Harthan, who went 3-for-5 in the contest, scored the first run of the game on a wild pitch in the top of the first.
Ethan Murdoch chased home Calin Smith and AJ Havrilla with a two-out double in the fourth as Caden Kaiser singled home Owen Ayers in the seventh. Ayers had a pair of hits in the ballgame.
Out of the bullpen, Griffin Miller threw 2.1 scoreless frames allowing two hits and two walks.
The Eagles plated their 10 runs on 15 hits, scoring three runs in each of the second and fifth innings.

Marshall stays on the road as it travels to EKU on Tuesday for a midweek contest at 6 p.m. before playing the Colonels again Wednesday night at Jack Cook Field with a 6 p.m. first pitch.
