Marshall gets two school records, picks up 23 individual victories
HUNTINGTON, W.Va. - The Thundering Herd track and field program returned to action for the first time in 2025 with 23 individual 1st place finishes at the Marshall Alumni Classic at the Chris Cline Athletic Facility.
"I thought there were some good performances today," Director of Track and Field Keith Roberts said. "Coming off a break and a crazy week where people were stranded at home and figuring out how they were going to get here, but they came in and had no excuses. We had some school records broken today, some freshmen doing some big things that haven't been done here in a long time, and then some upperclassmen leading the charge and setting performances that will get us into the season and get ready for a great conference championship."

Senior transfer Addison Painter's Men's Long Jump record of 7.58 meters (24.9 feet) broke his own mark set at the Marshall Opener last month. As of Saturday, that mark is 3rd among all Division I athletes.
Kylee Mastin also fittingly broke alumnus Abby Herring's 2023 1K record by racing a 2:51.30 solo. Mastin's former teammate was in attendance Saturday for the Alumni Classic.
Of the winners, Haleigh Crum, Kylee Mastin, Brynn McKeever, Rebecca Merritt, Alayezia Williams, and AJ Young won multiple events.
The Herd had a record 102 scorers in Saturday's meet.
